Position Summary

The Ifakara Health Institute is looking for a skilled Human Resources Officer ready to operate in a challenging environment, complete several duties, and meet deadlines. Reporting straight to the Senior HR and Administration Manager, the Officer will be instrumental in planning and implementing people acquisition, retention, and development initiatives inside the company. Promoting a good workplace culture, the Officer will also be in charge of supervising the administration and management of the HR services of the firm including work permit acquisition, performance management and all compliance concerns.

Duties and Responsibilities

Talent Acquisition, Recruitment and Retention Strategy

Work with hiring managers and department leaders to determine workforce requirements and create efficient recruiting plans in line with the goals of the Institute.
Use creative sourcing techniques to draw several talent pools while guaranteeing IHI and donor rules followed.
Lead the candidate sourcing, screening, selection, and interview process as well as the onboarding and documentation efforts.
Help to create and carry out training and development programs fit for the requirements of the company.
Examine HR statistics, produce interesting reports, and share results to support IHI's people management decisions.
Spot areas for improving talent management techniques and help IHI HR systems, policies, and processes to guarantee efficiency and effectiveness.

Compensation and Benefits Management

Keep an eye on industry standards and market changes to make sure the wage structure of the company stays competitive and consistent with applicable laws.
Manage staff benefits programs including health insurance, retirement plans, wellness projects, and other extra perks.
Ensuring compliance with applicable labor laws, rules, and internal policies, develop, revise, and convey salary and benefits policies.

Employee Relations Management and Performance Management

Be the main contact for staff members looking for advice on problems at work, dispute resolution, and complaints.
Advise managers on handling performance-related concerns including disciplinary actions, warnings, and terminations when required so they can support the performance management process.
Work with management and HR to create plans to improve staff involvement and promote a good corporate culture.
Contribute to IHI's performance management systems and procedures' design, execution, and upkeep.
Plan performance appraisal cycles to guarantee prompt and impartial evaluations of employee performance against defined goals and skills.

Team management and leadership.

Provide leadership, supervision, and guidance to HR Assistants, fostering a environment conducive to their professional growth.

Qualification and Experience

Bachelor's degree in human resources management or a comparable discipline.
A master's degree or further certificates help.
Minimum five years as an HR Generalist, including two at the supervisory level.
Demonstrated experience in hiring and selection procedures, ideally in a big corporation or corporate setting.
Experience in wage administration, compensation, and benefits management, preferably inside a major company.
Experience in employee relations or a related HR function, ideally in a comparable role inside a business environment.
Knowledge in obtaining work permits.
Knowledge of performance management, performance appraisal systems, goal-setting tools, and performance enhancement plans.

Skills and Competencies

Proven leadership abilities and background in fostering and sustaining positive working relationships with peers and the host government.
Capacity to operate under great performance pressure in a multifaceted, fast-paced setting with several responsibilities and tight deadlines.
Outstanding interpersonal abilities, encouraging team spirit and motivating colleagues and partners to produce outcomes.
Outstanding written and spoken communication and presenting abilities in English and Kiswahili.
