About the Role

Ensuring the vehicle stays in great working condition, the Driver will be charged with securely delivering students, staff, and school visitors. The job is located in the Moshono Campus of the school in Arusha.

Key Responsibilities

The Driver will carry out several tasks vital to The School of St. Jude's daily operations. Among these are

Operating school-owned cars to move personnel and pupils per pre-approved schedules and assigned routes.

Ensuring the assigned vehicle is in optimal condition by means of routine vehicle checks and inspections before and after each journey.

Correctly keeping vehicle records, including completing the logbook for every trip taken, and recording any fuel use, repairs, or unexpected occurrences.

Timely reporting of vehicle problems—including road-related malfunctions or breakdowns—and proactive communication regarding repairs or servicing due.

Following school-specific policies and safety procedures, and following all Tanzanian road safety rules and regulations without exception.

Working with the Chief Driver and administrative staff to guarantee seamless transportation logistics coordination, including following vehicle scheduling and route modification directions.

Working closely with school administrators, traffic police, and other pertinent agencies in case of emergencies or events involving school transportation.

Participating in school-wide activities, events, and social gatherings, as directed by management, to promote community spirit and involvement.

Submitting written reports describing the kind of problem and any actions taken in the event of accidents or breakdowns affecting scheduled travel.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Those applying for this post have to fulfill the following minimal requirements:
Must be a Tanzanian citizen 35 years or older.

Should have a legitimate Class C simple driver's license given by a relevant authority.

Must have finished a proper driving course from a respected university.

Must have at least two (2) years of documented experience operating driving school buses or comparable vehicles in an institutional environment.

Fluency in Swahili is necessary; knowledge of spoken, written, or reading English will be seen as a bonus.
