JOB TITLE: ACCOUNTANT

Position Summary

Our Finance team is searching for an experienced, dependable, meticulous Accountant to join us. This position is essential for correct financial management, regulatory compliance, and prompt financial reporting. Key member of the finance team, the Accountant will oversee fundamental financial activities, guide young employees, and assist the department's strategic direction.

Key Responsibilities

The core duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

1. Financial Reporting

  • Compile, examine, and show yearly, quarterly, and monthly financial reports.

  • Make sure financial records follow internal corporate policies, TIRA, TRA, IFRS, IAS, and complete compliance.

  • Assist senior management in strategic decision-making by means of insights obtained from financial data.

2. Reconciliation & Financial Accuracy

  • Oversee and carry out monthly bank reconciliations.

  • Compare EFD receipts and financial figures to the corporate ledger.

  • To preserve financial correctness, look into and fix differences right away.

3. Compliance & Audit

  • Help with planning for both internal and outside audits, including query responses, document submissions, and timetable development.

  • Guarantee tax legislation and IFRS 17 compliance.

  • Keep prepared for regulatory inspections and assist execution of audit suggestions.

4. Fixed Assets & Inventory

  • Keep the Fixed Asset Register current and maintained.

  • Supervise disposals following internal controls and approval procedures and manage depreciation schedules.

5. Debtors & Creditors Management

  • Supervise prompt processing of collections and payments under business policy and contractual agreements.

  • Before payment processing, check all vendor documentation—LPOs, Delivery Notes, Invoices.

  • Prepare checks and start prompt vendor payments.

6. Receipting & Banking

  • Guarantee correct general ledger posting and all payment receipting.

  • Watch bank accounts for incoming telegraphic transfers and verify correct transaction postings.

  • Guarantee prompt reconciliations and daily banking of all receipts.

7. Team Supervision & Mentorship

  • Oversee and guide accounting interns and junior staff members.

  • Performing performance reviews and assisting professional development projects by means of training and coaching.

8. Industry Knowledge & Updates

  • Keep informed of developments in insurance laws, tax, and accounting policies.
    Advise management on changes in regulations and their possible financial consequences.


Qualifications & Experience

Applicants for this position should fulfill the following requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Actuarial Science, or a similar discipline.
Certification in CPA (T) or ACCA is required.
A Master's degree in Accounting or Finance is a bonus.
At least two years in a financial reporting position among five years of progressive accounting experience.
Experience in the insurance or financial services area is quite preferred.
Thorough understanding of insurance accounting systems and IFRS, especially IFRS 17.
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and accounting applications.
Outstanding analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
Detail-oriented strong interpersonal and communication skills.
